We live in such a busy world and it seems like it just gets busier. There are so many constant distractions. It seems as if we get bombarded constantly from so many different directions. Breathe:
Breathing sounds like a simple thing to do, but when you’ree stressed with a million things to do at the same time, it’s something that we forget to do. I remember times when I caught myself not only not breathing but clenching up my jaw so tight that I felt like my teeth would crack. A tiny voice in my head used to tell me to breathe, and then I would. Stop…and breathe, really breathe. deep breaths in through the nose, hold for five seconds and release out through the mouth. Do this 3-5 times. Conscious breathing alone does wonders.
Stretch:
Just simple stretching relieves so much stress because we hold a lot of tension in our bodies. Take a few minutes, it doesn’t take long, to stretch all of your joints, you can feel the tension leave you. This paired with breathing is very calming.
Go out in nature: Nature is very grounding. Feeling the earth under your feet, the sky above you, looking at the sky and clouds, the beauty of nature. Breathing in the fresh air. being around trees, wildlife is incredibly grounding. We take it for granted sometimes and we forget to stop and look at the natural beauty of the world around us.
Write lists: Write things down. If you have any kind of anxiety this will help because once you write things down you don’t feel like you have to keep thinking about it. Have several lists. One for the day, one for the week, whatever you need to do make lists for everything.
Meditate, pray: Meditation is easy really once you learn how to do it. It’s just sitting still for a few moments, blocking everything out, breathing deeply, concentrating on the breath, reciting a mantra to keep centered and focused and if you feel your thoughts drifting away, gently bring them back to the centering thought. After calming yourself this way, you will be connected to your higher self, inner spirit and you’ll get inner guidance and wisdom. This is incredibly empowering.
