Woman in a crowd of people looking scared and overwhelmed

Do you feel stressed and overwhelmed? Surviving stress and overwhelm isn’t always as easy as saying it, but there are things that you can do to reduce it and even find some fun and joy. One very important thing that I learned to do was to stop.

  1. Get grounded and find your center. I can’t say this enough. In my experiences through struggles and even everyday stress and overwhelm this has been a  main survival strategy.
  2. Realize the true purpose of it all, there’s always a bigger reason for everything but you cannot see it at the time. Even your struggles and your hardest times will teach you things.
  3. Try to separate yourself from the event, try to rise above it. Whatever is happening around you good or bad, is not who you are, it’s just a speck in time.
  4. Make lists of the most important things to do, and some things let go. Just do one thing.
  5. Back up, start with the end in mind. You’ll get through whatever you’re facing right now. It will change, things always change. They don’t stay the same.
  6. Don’t take on other people’s anxieties and energies.  Everyone has their own set of emotions that have nothing to do with you.
  7. Rely on your higher power your true inner self. Your God,  spirit the universe. Rely on your team. You have a great team for you and behind you.
  8. Practice self-care: whatever that means to you. Build yourself up. Some ideas are read, write, meditate, pray, call a friend, paint, exercise, go out in nature, go for a walk, take a nap, go for a drive, listen to music, daydream, visualize, imagine. Write future goals down, do a beauty treatment. Take yourself on a date, etc. Take time for yourself.
  9. Always go back to your center. Try not to let yourself get to off balance if you do it makes it harder to get back, but we’re human, so it will happen.  Know how to get to your center, calm, core.  In my opinion that is your greatest strength.

Certain times of the year and during certain life events your life will be more demanding and stressful. Mastering the art of remaining calm by finding your inner core, the calm center is a wonderful survival tool, lifesaver strategy. My hope is that this post will help you even if just a little.
